Porcelain Veneers

At our Doral practice, placing porcelain veneers is a popular way to enhance your smile. Porcelain veneers are thin laminates that are placed onto the front portion of your teeth to enhance the esthetics of your natural smile. Veneers can correct crowding, chipped, or discolored teeth. Porcelain veneers are an excellent replacement for composite bonding, and the process is less invasive than being fitted for crowns – thin laminates made from porcelain simply cover the imperfections in your own smile.

Porcelain veneers are extremely lifelike and hold their radiance, unlike bonding which, over time, can appear unnatural. Despite porcelain’s translucence, it is an extremely strong material. Veneers come in a wide range of tooth colors, so finding your perfect match is easy. At our practice in Doral, porcelain veneers and crowns are considered permanent restorations, and they can be expected to last for many years. Dr. Del Puerto uses only the highest quality materials for porcelain veneers to ensure that they remain brilliant and stain-free long into the future. Another benefit of veneers is that there are no food restrictions - once they are cemented you can eat normally (apples, corn on the cob, etc.).

If you have crowns on your front teeth, and are unhappy with their appearance, they can be replaced  with porcelain veneers to give you a more natural, attractive smile. Porcelain veneers can also be used for cosmetic repositioning, also called “instant orthodontics,” as an alternative to traditional metal braces or retainers. All Porcelain Crowns  View Gallery

To have enough strength to withstand biting forces, porcelain crowns used to always be built upon a metal core. The dark metal inside the porcelain/metal crown causes a dark blue line to show at the edge of the crown.

New breakthroughs in adhesives and stronger porcelain materials now make it possible to make crowns entirely out of porcelain, which then can be bonded to the teeth.

All-porcelain crowns maintain a translucency that makes them hard to tell from natural teeth. Without metal, the problem of the dark blue line at the edge of the gums is eliminated. This allows your dentist to place the edge of the crown above the gum line, which is healthier for your tooth and gums.

When you want to improve your smile, all-porcelain crowns are a beautiful and natural-looking choice!

What is it that you like or dislike about your smile or your teeth? Some aspects of your smile that Dr. Del Puerto will review with you and that could be improved with a smile makeover include the following: In addition to the color, alignment and balance of your teeth in the esthetic zone of your smile (the section of upper and lower teeth that show when you smile), there are several attributes of your teeth and smile that your cosmetic dentist will evaluate with you when planning your smile makeover. These include:

Tooth Color: Silver or amalgam dental fillings can be replaced with natural, tooth-colored composite restorations, while teeth whitening can improve the color of stained or dulled teeth. Tooth color and shading are important considerations during the evaluation of and preparation for various procedures, including porcelain veneers, crowns, bridges, composite bonding and dental implants.

Alignment and Spacing: Teeth that are crooked, overlapping or have gaps between them can be straightened and aligned when necessary through orthodontics or Invisalign and improved with veneers.

Missing Teeth: One or more missing teeth can negatively affect the appearance of your smile – as well as affect your bite and increase your risk for tooth decay – making replacement an integral part of oral health and facial esthetics. Missing teeth can be replaced by dental implants, bridges or partial dentures.

Harmony and Balance: Uneven, chipped and cracked teeth can be cosmetically bonded for an improved appearance, and a gummy smile can be re-contoured to help improve the overall look of the smile.

Fuller Lips, Smile and Cheeks: An unshapely or aging face can be improved or rejuvenated with certain procedures in the smile makeover category, including orthodontics and/or oral maxillofacial surgery.

A cosmetic dentist will work closely with you to develop a treatment plan designed to achieve exactly what you want from your makeover. This treatment plan may consist of many cosmetic and functionally restorative procedures, potentially including teeth whitening, composite bonding, veneers, dental crowns, orthodontics (braces), oral maxillofacial surgery and gummy smile reduction.

Dental Bonding View Case

At our office, dental bonding with tooth colored, composite resin is used to repair a number of cosmetic imperfections. Dental bonding can be used to fill gaps between teeth, fix chipped teeth, and to cover stains on the tooth’s surface. At our Doral practice, the dental bonding process is simple. First, resin is applied to the teeth in layers until the desired thickness to complete the repair is achieved. Once the resin is dried, Dr. Del Puerto buffs the bond to the ideal shape and texture so that it looks natural and undetectable.

Dental bonding is a procedure that will last approximately three to five years with proper maintenance. It is a cost effective alternative to permanent restorations like porcelain veneers and crowns, that will give you the beautiful results you want.Contact us today  to find out more about dental bonding!

Porcelain Fillings & Inlays

Silver amalgam fillings can make teeth appear dark and dull. Composite bonding can chip and discolor over time. Porcelain inlays from our practice provide an extremely strong, long-lasting replacement and alternative to these procedures. Inlays are able to restore and protect the tooth against further fracture or damage without discoloration or need for a full crown.
